2021/08/20 Our project “Microclimate effects on soil multi-functionalities in subtropical forests” has been granted by the Natural Science Foundation of China (period: 2022.01 – 2024.12) as a Youth Program. In this project, we aim to modulate forest microclimate in three forest stands and explore how microclimate change impacts understory plant and soil microbial community assembly, thereby changing soil multi functionalities. 2021/05/29 We invited Dr. Jinlong Zhang from Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden to our “R Learning Program”. He gave a talk about “Predicting Species Potential Distribution in R: Concept, Approach, and Meaning”. This talk attracted more than 400 people to attend, and we received many positive feedbacks from both presenters and attendees. Read more >>
2021/5/22 Shiyu Ma initiated a network project named “Litter Decomposition Along Elevation Gradient in Subtropical Forests”. In this project, we used Tea-bag as litter materials and buried more than 10,000 bags across 13 mountains which covered most subtropical areas in China. Our goal is to disentangle the elevational pattern of litter decomposition rate and its impacting factors.
